Generating and storing energy efficiently is an environmental imperative, and much like other sectors the industry is being disrupted by new technology and a wave of digital transformation. Lei Zhang founded Envision – the eighth biggest renewable energy company in the world – with a bold vision to tackle the problem.
Labmeta were invited by H+K Strategies to explore the digital transformation of Envision Energy and their ‘Internet of Things’ platform for renewable energy that included products such as batteries, wind farms, solar panel systems, electric cars and more.
We developed a motion design system for the brand launch, a brand film for an electric car stand at the Geneva Motor Show and social media assets for instagram working with the brands four pillars: "Connect", "Generate", "Store" and "Move".
Our approach - to model a set of behaviours and interactions between the "grid" (composed of Envision's renewable electricity infrastructure: Batteries, turbines, IoT platform, electric car etc) and a turbulent flow of natural energy. Each grid point generating a set of expressive kinetic forces that steer, manipulate, collect and control the turbulent flow.
The end result is an adaptable and scaleable motion design strategy for the initial launch events and to feed into patterns and brand illustrations to be produced by H+K Studios.
